Roccat Leadr Wireless Mouse

Performance and wireless play nice.

-

The Leadr is bristling with input options — 10 buttons, a pair of two-way paddles and a scroll wheel — yet somehow the aesthetic manages to remain relatively sleek. Although limited to right-handers, its ergonomic profile is well suited for claw grips and palm grips alike.

At 134g, the Leadr is light enough to fly across the mousepad but still has enough heft to feel substantial in the hand. Roccat includes a modified Owl-Eye optical sensor from PixArt and, despite being wireless, we noticed no latency or drops in precision. The included charging dock doubles as the 2.4GHz antenna and connects via micro-USB to your computer — the same cable can be used to plug into your mouse if you’re out of juice. The dock stands vertically and displays your Leadr like a mounted elk head when charging. Beyond the immediate combination of 16 configurable inputs, one of these can be assigned to Roccat’s EasyShift[+] function, which, when held, allows access to secondary functions for nine of the top-facing buttons. This leaves you with 25 configurable commands across five profiles to alter at will via the Roccat Swarm software. You can assign an ungodly amount of functions to any of those 25 assignable buttons, such as media controls, macros and actions from popular games, launching applications, and command line prompts.

At $229, the Roccat Leadr isn’t cheap, but if you’re after excellent quality and extreme functionality in a wireless gaming mouse, then this is your weapon of choice.
