ASUS Cerberus V2

Offering up affordable quality.

-

Easily found for under $100, and as little as $79, the ASUS Cerberus is aimed squarely at those who want decent quality and features without blowing the budget. The headset is wired, and uses the standard over the ear style cups. It’s available in blue, red or green, and can be matched with a range of other Cerberus gaming products. The headset features large 53mm drivers, with a 32 Ohm impedance, and a 20 — 20,000Hz frequency response.

The Cerberus has a fixed 1.2m braided cable with inline volume and mic mute, with a single 3.5mm jack on the end. For use across other devices, it also has a splitter / extension cable, with the typical dual 3.5mm ends. The adjustable microphone is removable, but in a move we love, ASUS has also included another mic on the inline volume controls. This makes it easy to use the headset as a hands free alternative for your phone, without the boom.

With very large ear pads, and a self-adjusting head strap, the Cerberus is very comfortable, though a touch tight. It also features pivoting ear cups, which help it sit very evenly. Noise isolation is excellent, and headset has plenty of bass, and a surprisingly rich mid-range, but lacks slightly in the high end. The microphone is very easily positioned, and was more than up to the task of voice chat. The Cerberus uses a combination of metal and plastic, and while it can’t fold flat, it’s quite robust and will happily handle being thrown in a bag.
