Tt eSports CRONOS Riing RGB 7.1

Give yourself a competitive edge.

-

By ditching the typical 3.5mm jacks and opting for USB, the Tt eSports CRONOS Riing can incorporate virtual 7.1 surround sound. The inbuilt amplifier handles up to 96KHz, 24-bit audio, and uses dual 50mm drivers that are tilted to give your ears a little more space. They offer the typical 32 Ohm impedance, and a 20 – 20,000 Hz frequency response.

The inbuilt amp in the CRONOS is on par with most motherboard audio, and the headset provides plenty of low-down kick, strong mids and a slightly flat higher end. The virtual surround sound definitely adds an immersive element to gaming, and performed reasonably well in conveying spatial information. Sound isolation is above average, and there is little cable and movement noise. The CRONOS uses a slide out microphone, which is easily positioned, but feels a little flimsy. On the plus side, it records excellent audio.

The CRONOS uses chunky over the ear style pads, with a self-adjusting head strap for support. It’s very comfortable thanks to pivoting ear cups, and lighter than it looks. The headset can also fold flat for easier transport in a gaming bag.

What’s smart is how the inline remote control toggles surround sound, volume and equaliser presets, and mutes the mic. Most of the setup and tweaking is done via the included software, which has loads of presets, as well as manual controls. The headset also includes RGB LEDs in the ear cups and inline remote, with eight different lighting effects.
