Tt eSports Shock Pro RGB
Stand out from the crowd.
Priced at just $80, the Thermaltake built Shock Pro RGB is a fairly affordable headset. As expected at this price, it’s wired with a 2m braided cable that can’t be removed. A ‘Y’ cable 2-in-1 converter is included so the headset can be used with a console or mobile device, as well as your PC.
The Shock Pro uses 40mm drivers, with a 32 Ohm impedance and the normal 20 – 20,000 Hz frequency response. The headset sits entirely over the ear, and provides great sound isolation and bass. Mid and highs are reasonable, but get a little muddy at higher volume and suit gaming more than music. The fold down mic is well positioned (but not very adjustable), and handles voice chat with aplomb. We found the headset slightly tight on a large noggin, but thanks to the 25mm thick ear pads and self-adjusting support strap, still quite comfortable. The headset is light considering the bulk, but feels robust enough to handle being shoved into a bag regularly.
Rather than placing them on the cable, the Shock Pro mounts the volume and mic on/off button controls on the left side of the headset. We actually prefer this, as it makes it easy to quickly make adjustments with the left thumb, and never have to take a hand off the mouse.
The Shock Pro’s party piece is an array of RGB LEDs on each side, with seven different user selectable colours and two lighting effects – colour jumping pulse, and single colour pulse.
