Pokémon GO Fest fail
SERVER ISSUES AND BUGS SPOIL THE AUGMENTED FUN.
Events at Niantic’s Pokémon GO festival in Chicago didn’t go quite as planned. With reception far from ideal, festival attendees were disappointed to find that the servers were crippled due to an overloaded network, preventing them from logging in. Niantic CEO John Hanke was booed during the opening ceremony and cries of “Fix the game!” could be heard. One of the big attractions was the opportunity to catch rare Pokémon in and around the festival, and to participate in a raid battle. Since many had flown in from around the country and overseas, the offer of a ticket refund and US$100 of in-game currency didn’t do much to quell the anger .
