Drop iPhones, not bombs

-

UNIQUE SOLUTION SUGGESTED TO THE NORTH KOREA CRISIS.

At APC, we try not to get into politics, providing a glorious tech-based bit of escapism for you — our readers — each month (you’re welcome!). But for once, we will make an exception. “Why?” you may ask. Well, a former US Navy SEAL by the name of Jocko Willink has come up with a potential solution to the impending endof-the-world North Korea H-bomb crisis, which isn’t the usual ‘just drop a bomb on them’ avenue. “Drop 25 million iPhones on them and put satellites over them with free wifi,” Willink tweeted early in September. North Korean expert Yun Sun has said that the concept of arming the North Korean people with knowledge, in theory, has its merits. However, getting the phones across the border and into the hands of the population, and also keeping the ordinary citizens from getting punished by the regime before then rising up and overthrowing Kim Jong-Un and his ilk is easier said than done.
