Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2080 OC

An excellent RTX 2080, but with an eye watering price.

-

The Asus 2080 Strix Gaming is the most feature-packed 2080 in our test. It’s no surprise it comes with by far the highest price, too. It has the joint highest overclock of the bunch with a 1515MHz base clock and 1860MHz boost clock. In OC mode, the boost clock is increased to 1890MHz.

The Strix cooler is monstrous. It has excellent build quality and rigidity, though users with space considerations need to take note of its triple slot form factor. It delivered the coolest temperatures of the roundup and was second only to the MSI in fan noise, though the difference is minor.

The Asus comes with a unique pair of fan headers suitable for controlling adjacent system fans. It’s the only card in the test to feature a pair of HDMI 2.0b ports in addition to a pair of DP 1.4 ports and a Type-C USB port. It comes with a healthy dose of RGB, with the side logos and shroud decked out with RGB lighting controlled by the Asus Aura Sync app.

The Asus Strix delivered the fastest results in our testing, and was easily able to hold its boost clocks above 1900MHz when set to OC mode with the GPU Tweak App. Temperatures never went above 70c in our open test bench.

The Asus delivered the best 2080 performance and has a great feature set. It’s very expensive though, so it’s hard to recommend vs the almost-as-good competition. Still, it’s a very fine card.
