Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 Gaming OC 8GB

If there’s such a thing as a budget 2080, here it is.

-

The Gigabyte RTX 2080 Gaming OC aims to strike a good balance of performance and affordability, being one of the cheaper 2080s. It manages to undercut the pricing of the competing MSI and Asus models while still delivering on the most important metric: Performance. Its overclock mode is set to 1830 MHz boost clock, though it can boost to well over 1900MHz.

It uses the compact Windforce 3X cooler which does an acceptable job, and is certainly capable enough though it does mean maximum boost clocks are a touch lower and noise levels are higher, though far from unacceptable.

The Gigabyte Gaming 8G comes with clock profiles that can be activated via the simple-to-use Aorus Engine. This app controls the RBG functionality of the Gigabyte logo on the side of the card. The card has a nice looking subtle back-plate too. Video outputs consist of the standard three DP 1.4 ports, single HDMI 2.0b port and Type-C USB. The card is fed by dual 8-pin power connectors.

Despite being a ‘ budget’ model, the Gigabyte gives up very little compared to its more expensive competitors. A couple of frames here or there won’t be noticed.

The Gigabyte RTX 2080 Gaming 8G is a good all-rounder that is able to let the RTX 2080 GPU do its thing, without the bells and whistles. It mightn’t have the overall polish of the MSI and Asus, but it will do its job very well and save you a few bucks too.
