Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming OC 8GB

A 2080 Ti that’s somewhat affordable.

-

Yes, 2080 Tis are insanely expensive, but at least Gigabyte’s 2080 Ti Gaming OC comes in at the lower end of the price spectrum. Like its non Ti sibling, it omits the bells and whistles of the higher end models while offering all the performance that a 2080 Ti can deliver. After all, cranking out FPS is what we want from a 2 grand GPU.

The Windforce 3X cooler is able to keep the demanding TU102 GPU cool enough to keep its boost clocks at high levels, without having to resort to high noise levels. We were somewhat surprised at how it performs, as the cooler certainly lacks surface area compared to the bigger cards.

Like the 2080, The Gigabyte Gaming 2080 Ti comes with a guaranteed OC mode that can be set in the Aorus Engine app. We saw clocks go to 1850MHz+, delivering a quality 4K gaming experience. The Gigabyte logo on the side of the card is RGB lit and it has that discrete looking backplate too. Video outputs consist of the standard three DP 1.4 ports, single HDMI 2.0b port and Type-C USB. The card is fed by dual 8 pin power connectors.

Performance is strong, but it does fall a couple of FPS away from the best cards, as in the end there’s no substitute for cooling when it comes to a stable, maximum boost clock.

The Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti Gaming minimises the wallet hurt, while delivering all the performance we expect from a 2080 Ti.
