G.Skill Trident-Z Royal

Memory with looks suitable for royalty.

-

G.Skill is well known in overclocking circles for its willingness to push the envelope with ever faster memory kits. If you’re after maximum performance, G.Skill is usually in the shortlist.

The Trident-Z range has been available in one form or another for many years, but never has it looked like this. It comes sheathed in a magnificent mirror like silver or gold finish. It really does give that wow factor when you open the box for the first time. Even the packaging is a premium match for the kit. The gorgeous finish is complemented by a sparkling crystalline light bar. As it’s a clear plastic material, the colors are especially vibrant and accurate. Colors bounce around everywhere. Look are always subjective, but this is the best looking memory kit I’ve personally ever seen.

The G.Skill kit’s performance was about in

the middle of the pack. Where it excelled was its overclocking performance. While it doesn’t come with Samsung B-Die like you’d likely find in a 3200 C14 kit, for the lesser spec kit, its OC was still noteworthy compared to the other kits in the test.

The Trident-Z Royal carries quite a bit higher price compared to some of the other kits, which hurts it in an especially competitive market. But its supreme good looks and roundup leading overclocking ability elevates it. As with the other kits in the test, pricing is volatile right now, but as a premium product, it’s always going to carry a bit of a premium price.
