BIKES ONLY KEEPS ON TRUCKING
Check out the story in this issue covering the BMW Safari GS Enduro event and you will quickly appreciate how awesome the Cairns to Darwin adventure ride was.
But once all those riders hit Darwin, then what? It’s a bloody long way home again for anyone for whom time away from home and work is precious. Which is precisely where Bikes Only steps in.
Bikes Only is Australia’s largest motorcycle transport company and has been operating for almost 30 years. They worked in partnership with the BMW Safari team this year to transport bikes to the start of the ride in Cairns and from the finish in Darwin.
“We sent three semis up to Darwin after the Safari and we transported 90 bikes back to various locations right around the country,” says Bikes Only general manager Jeremy Johnston.
Jeremy went on to tell us Bikes Only transports more than 10,000 bikes per year, and the company is moving more and more adventure bikes.
“I’d estimate around 20 per cent of our business is transporting adventure bikes,” says Jeremy. “With the rise in popularity of adventure riding, riders are transporting their bikes and gear to the start or from the finish of their rides. It’s a great option for riders who are time poor and want to just focus on the ride.”
Here at AAB we’ve recently utilised the Bikes Only service, riding two KTM 890 Adventure R test bikes from Sydney to the Hattah Desert, and then trucking the bikes with Bikes Only from Mildura back to KTM Australia HQ while we jetted home.
For more details on the Bikes Only services, check out their website and when you call to enquire, be sure to tell them you’re an adventure rider because many of the Bikes Only staff ride ADV bikes too! www.bikesonly.com.au
