PINK LADY FOOD PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR 2017 OPEN FOR ENTRIES
IF YOU WERE INSPIRED by some of the tasty images which won this year’s Pink Lady Food Photographer Of The Year competition then why not have a go yourself? After all, nothing really goes together quite as well as photography and food. The 2017 competition is now open for entries and has some new judges and two new categories.
“Who would have believed,” observes Andy Macdonald, Managing Director of Pink Lady Apples UK, the headline sponsor, “…that, in just six years, we have seen the Awards develop into such an amazing international event, with hugely qualified judges from the world of photography and food, and from all corners of the globe wishing to be involved, all of which demonstrates the importance of the Awards. Last year we received entries from more than 60 countries and a staggering 30,000 mouth-watering images have been entered into the competition since its inception. These Awards are going from strength to strength.”
Joining the judging panel for 2017 are legendary chef, author and restaurateur Gary Rhodes OBE, Buzzfeed Global Photo Director Wajmah Yaqubi; Nik Powell who is Director of National Film and Television School and co-founder of Virgin Records, and Rein Skullerud who is head of the Photo Unit at the World Food Programme. Returning for another helping are the chair of judges, Jay Rayner ( The Guardian, Observer, BBC Radio 4, Kitchen Cabinet, Masterchef and The One Show); David Loftus (who is Jamie Oliver’s photographer); Thomas Gerwers, the Chairman of TIPA; and Paul Burrows, Editor of Camera magazine (who you might also have heard of before).
The categories – which have been devised to showcase the culture and production of food in all its variety – now include ‘World Food Programme Food For Life’, for images depicting the humanitarian aspect of food; and ‘InterContinental London Park Lane Food At The Table’, for the most delicious images of food, ready-to-eat, in hotels, restaurants, gastropubs and bars anywhere in the world.
