PHASE ONE ADDS 90MM LENS TO XT SYSTEM

- Com.au

IF YOU’RE THE proud owner of Phase One’s XT medium format field camera, then you’ll be interested in the addition of a 90mm f/5.6 Rodenstock lens to the system. The new XT Rodenstock 90mm f/5.6 HR Digaron-SW is the fifth lens in the system, joining the existing 23mm f/5.6, 32mm f/4.0, 50mm f/4.0 and 75mm f/5.6 models. Like all these lenses, the 90mm uses Phase One’s X-Shutter – originally developed for its industrial and aerial cameras. It’s an electromagnetically controlled leaf shutter with carbonfibre blades, driven by a linear motor, and has a speed range of 60 minutes to 1/1000 second. It’s extremely durable, with a claimed lifespan of 500,000 cycles.

The new lens’ imaging circle is 120mm, enabling full use to be made of the XT body’s built-in movements for shifts of up to 12mm up/down or left/right (i.e. a total of 24mm vertically or laterally). This allows for perspective control or the creation of ultra-high resolution stitched panoramas. These shift settings are recorded in the file’s EXIF data.

The XT camera body is designed to be used with Phase One’s 100MP or 150MP IQ4 series capture backs which have a 40.0x53.4mm CMOS sensor.

With this format, the 90mm is roughly equivalent to 65mm and gives an angle-of-view of 67 degrees. The minimum aperture is f/22 and the lens has a screwthread filter diameter of 72mm.

In Australia, the XT Rodenstock 90mm f/5.6 HR Digaron-SW is priced at $23,100. Phase One products are distributed locally by C.R. Kennedy & Co and available from Specular, visit https://specular.
