Estuary stingray

Hemitrygon fluviorum

-

Width: 93cm

The estuary stingray is endemic to the coastline of eastern and northern Australia. It is found close to shore, in estuaries and mangrove forests. Its diet is varied and it feeds on shellfish, worms, crabs and other small crustaceans. Once common, the stingraygray is now near-threatened, primarily marily due to habitatha loss of estuarine tuarine wetlands along the Queenslandueensland coastline.
