AUSSIE BACKYARD BIRD COUNT

The Aussie Backyard Bird Count (23–29 October) is a rewarding way to get involved in monitoring Australia’s environment. October is often the best time to spot birds because many are more active and easier to see during spring, which kicks off behaviours such as nesting, breeding and flocking. In 2016 this citizen science initiative resulted in the submission of 1.4 million bird records and this year organisers are hoping it will be even bigger.
