MAJOR HELP NNEEDED

-

The Major Mitchell’s cockatoo c is in serious decline in Victoria. The state’s sta last significant population of this bird is at P Pine Plains, about 400km northwest of Melbourne, Melb where ecologist Victor Hurley has b been working for the past 20 years to secure the th species’ future. He has identified that a major cause for the decline is a shortage of suitable ne nesting sites for breeding birds to lay eggs and raise chicks. His creation cre of artificial hollows has seen an increase in successful breeding, but more hollows are needed to secure a future for majors. Your donation do will contribute to building new hollows at Pine Plains, throug through a project partnership with Victor and Birdlife Australia’s Threatened Bird Network. To learn more about this species’ plight, see page 42.
