Tracing the Murray

-

On 3 March, Matty Hunter hopes to paddle his custom-made canoe (with four bladed paddle wheels on each side) into the mouth of the mighty Murray River in Goolwa, SA. His expedition began on 12 December, 2017, when Matty was helicoptered to the beginning of the Murray River in the Australian Alps, where it is barely a trickle. Combining hiking, whitewater rafting and canoeing, Matty’s adventure may well be the first of its kind, following the river’s entire 2500km length from the source to the mouth of Australia’s longest waterway.
