CLASSÉ SIGMA MONO AMPS

-

Canadian manufacturer Classé has added a new model to its Sigma Series, the Sigma Mono, a monaural power amplifier. The new model (pictured here as a stereo pair) uses Classé’s proprietary Class-D amplifier circuitry as well as a Classé-designed switch-mode power supply (SMPS) and power factor correction (PFC) circuitry. Classé claims the amplifier operates at more than 90 per cent efficiency to deliver 350-watts continuous into 8 loads and 700-watts continuous into 4 loads. Classé says it’s improved the design of its Class-D amplifier circuit, with improved circuit design, upgraded components, additional features and changes to its DSP. ‘ The result is an amplifier that builds on and exceeds the high standard already established by its two smaller siblings, making it genuinely worthy of the reference moniker,’ said John Martin, Brand Manager for Australian Distributor Convoy International. ‘ Classé’s Sigma Series is building an enthusiastic following thanks not only to its transparent and effortless sound but also because of its versatility and broad appeal. Its audio credentials satisfy the most astute listeners, while its flexibility appeals to audio and video fanatics alike,’ he added. ‘ The latest Sigma Mono is ideal for those who want a high performance mono amplifier that doesn’t come with the usual space and efficiency drawbacks—or cost a fortune.’ Available now, the Classé Sigma Mono power amplifier sells for $5,500 (RRP).
