Melbourne’s Class A Audio is inviting all audiophiles and music lovers to attend an audio event called ‘Sunday with GoldenEar Technology’ on Sunday 29th May, 2016. GoldenEar Technology speakers are distributed by Kedcorp in Australia, a USbased company founded by Sandy Gross, who previously co-founded both Polk and Definitive Technology and says his purpose in founding GoldenEar was ‘ to make highend affordable.’ On Sunday May 29th, experts from Kedcorp, in partnership with Class A Audio, will demonstrate a range of new models from GoldenEar, including the GoldenEar Triton Towers. ‘ The Triton Tower loudspeakers are GoldenEar Technology’s premiere products, embodying all of GoldenEar’s cutting-edge technologies,’ said Kevin Yu, of Class A Audio. ‘ These sleek, black towers are sonically balanced in such a way that you can use them to create an awe-inspiring music system or, in combination with other GoldenEar loudspeakers, a state-of-the-art home theatre system.’ Michael Di Meglio, of Kedcorp, told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine that ‘Sunday with GoldenEar Technology’ should be a ‘must-attend’ event for all audiophiles. ‘ GoldenEar’s founders and their engineering team have literally hundreds of years of combined experience and have created or helped to create many of the world’s best-sounding and best-selling loudspeakers,’ he said. ‘ On Sunday May 29, we’ll take you through a day of hi-fi discovery, sharing the ultimate music enjoyment with the complete range of GoldenEar loudspeakers, during which we’ll show that GoldenEar Technology is ideally suited for both music and home theatre, so that when you invest in GoldenEar Technology you’re getting the best of both worlds—the best in home theatre and also the best musical performance. ’ Date: 29/05/2016 Time: 10.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m. Location: Class A Audio, 8/585 Blackburn Rd, Notting Hill, VIC Phone: (03) 8555 0735 Web: www.classaaudio.com.au Light refreshments and drinks will be served throughout the day. KEF has re-engineered its iconic compact EGG speakers by building in amplifiers, a DAC, and Bluetooth aptX to make a stand-alone music system. ‘ KEF’s new EGG wireless digital music system, provides 21st-century music consumers with the perfect blend of functionality, quality and design for their homes,’ said Michael Di Meglio,, National Sales Manager of Advance Audio Australia, which distributes KEF in Australia. ‘ Offering both Bluetooth aptX functionality and high-resolution music compatibility via USB, this new EGG is also the most sophisticated and acoustically accomplished version yet of KEF’s iconic ‘egg’ compact speaker.’

As you’d expect, the new EGG provides a nest for KEF’s Uni-Q driver array which, according to KEF, not only delivers perfect ‘point-source’ sound, but simultaneously disperses sound more widely and evenly through the room than is possible with conventional speakers thanks to the use of a patented tangerine waveguide. The tweeter is internally vented to prevent potentially distorting high pressures from building up behind the dome, and the geometry of the dome itself has been optimised to avoid disrupting the waveform, which KEF says results in a smoother and more strikingly natural-sounding high-frequencies. ‘ This innovative design makes the system particularly apt for close listening such as a desktop setting, where the Uni-Q drivers ensure you hear a precise and detailed sound even when sitting close to the speakers,’ Di Meglio told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine.

To keep things simple, the KEF EGG is a ‘plug-and-play’ package, thanks to the built-in amplification, 96/24 DAC, USB, Bluetooth and line input. ‘ Whether you stream music wirelessly from your computer or handheld device; connect optically to your TV with an option of adding a KEF subwoofer to transform your TV programmes and movies; or play high-resolution music through the system’s 96kHz/24-bit mini-USB input; the KEF EGG offers a complete package of contemporary compact design, effortless set-up and state-of-theart performance,’ said Di Meglio. Available now in gloss black, white and frosted blue finishes, the KEF EGG sells for $799 (per pair).
