VAF DEBUTS EVO1
VAF Research’s first new loudspeaker in three years, the EVO1 is an ultra-compact model that’s available in a choice of finishes with prices starting at $2,999 per pair. The speakers were designed by Simon Wilde, who told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine that he’d designed them so that people who live in apartments could buy a pair of speakers that delivered a full, rich sound. ‘Not everyone has the space for our flagship Signature speakers, but everyone loves to listen to their favourite music on outstanding speakers,’ he said. ‘The beauty of the VAF EVO1 is that they deliver beautiful bass and lovely clear audio reproduction throughout the frequency range, and do not require a subwoofer to deliver the best sound, like some of the smaller speakers in our range.’
The EVO1 is a bass reflex design using a single dual-concentric driver. The cone diameter of the dual concentric is 254mm and the tweeter at its centre is 25mm in diameter. VAF rates the frequency response at 39Hz to 18kHz ±2dB with a –3dB point at 35Hz and the sensitivity at 85dBSPL (1w/1m). Nominal impedance is 6 . The cabinet measures 366mm high, 220mm wide and 336mm deep and as well being able to be supplied in your choice of timber finishes, also has a stylish optional finish that sees a piece of Vshaped blond wood inset into dark wood. VAF founder, Philip Vafiadis, told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine: ‘ These speakers are ideal for inner-city lifestyles where consumers refuse to compromise their home music and movie sound experience due to limited apartment space.’
