Soundsmith is running a promotion for its upgraded Zephyr MIMC Star cartridge where 1,500 purchasers will be sent a Soundsmith product, which could be anything from a set of EZ Mount screws to an SG-210 Strain Gauge Cartridge System. ‘ Soundsmith calls this exciting promotional program its “Golden Ticket” promotion,’ said Chris Strom, of Radiance Audio Visual, which distributes Soundsmith in Australia. ‘ Every single one of the 1,500 Zephyr MIMC Star cartridges being built for this promotion will come with a randomly allocated small golden envelope that determines the Soundsmith product you will receive, so every single Zephyr MIMC Star buyer will receive something.’

The 1,500 Soundsmith products (and quantities) available are: SG-210 Strain Gauge Cartridge Systems (4); Hyperion Phono Cartridges (6); Sussurro Phono Cartridges (10); Paua Phono Cartridges (15); MCP-2 Phono Preamplifiers (15); MMP-3 Phono Preamplifiers (15); MMP-4 Phono Preamplifiers (15); EZ Mount Screws (1,420). ‘ No matter which prize Zephyr MIMC Star customers receive, they’ll be a winner because the performance of the cartridge is absolutely outstanding,’ Strom told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine. ‘ So good that you’d be hard-pressed to get anywhere near the performance of a Zephyr MIMC Star with any MC design under $10,000 … and in some respects, there aren’t any moving coil cartridges at any price that can match its performance, yet it retails in Australia for only $2,200.’ As with all Soundsmith magnetic cartridges, the Zephyr MIMC Star can be re-built many times for only $440 per re-build, so irrespective of whether or not you are the first or the 101st owner of the cartridge, you can always be using an ‘as-new’ cartridge.
