Sonus faber has made good on its promise to add new finishes for the speakers in its Chameleon series. The good news, as anyone who owns a model in this Italian company’s ‘Chameleon Collection’ will already know, is that whenever Sonus faber adds a new finish, existing owners can convert their own speakers to the new finish thanks to the use of removable panels. The newest finish to be added is matte walnut. Completely made in Italy, the new matte walnut side panels are enhanced by manually inserted black wood lines and finished in hand-applied lacquer. ‘ The new walnut finish adds a touch of vintage charm to the Chameleon family,’ said Phillip Sawyer, of Synergy Audio Visual, ‘ and is a complete change from the other more mod- ern colours with which we launched the range, those being White, Black, Metal Blue, Metal Grey, Orange and Red.’ There are three models in the current Chameleon range. The smallest is the Chameleon B, a two-way bookshelf/ standmount with a 150mm bass/midrange driver and a 29mm fabric dome tweeter rated with a sensitivity of 87dBSPL, and a nominal impedance of 4 . It measures 315×185×283 mm (HWD). The Sonus faber Chameleon T is a three-way floorstanding model with two 180mm bass drivers that are crossed at 250Hz to a 150mm midrange driver, which in turn crosses to a 29mm fabric dome tweeter at 2.5kHz. Rated with a sensitivity of 90dBSPL and a nominal impedance of 4 , Sonus faber specifies the frequency response at 38Hz to 25kHz. It measures 1060×270×355 mm (HWD).
