Marantz has released ‘Special Edition’ versions of its PM-14 integrated amplifier and SA-14 Super Audio CD player. The PM-14S1 Special Edition integrated amplifier ($5,450 RRP) uses the same capacitor reservoir as the original KI Pearl as well as an oversized toroidal transformer, and a constant current feedback phono equaliser for the phono inputs. Rated with a power output of 90-watts per channel into 8 and 140-watts per channel into 4 , the PM-14S1 SE uses Marantz’s proprietary HDAM SA3 circuits.

The SA-14S1 Special Edition Super Audio CD player ($4,520 RRP) uses Marantz’ own disc mechanism to play both CDs and SACDs and the internal DAC can be accessed externally, via optical and coaxial digital inputs as well by USB-B, so you can stream high-res audio files direct to it from your computer. The USB input is asynchronous and supports all PCM data up to 192kHz/24-bits as well as DSD 2.8/5.6MHz. ‘ These two new special premium products inspired by brand ambassador Ken Ishiwata mark another true milestone in over 60 years of Marantz history,’ said Ralph Grundl, of Qualifi, which distributes Marantz in Australia. ‘ The moment you encounter the new SA-14S1 SE Premium Super Audio CD player and the new PM-14S1 SE Premium integrated stereo amplifier, you know that you are in the presence of serious quality. The SA-14S1 SE is the perfect platform for reference-quality sound and the SA-14S1 SE instantly and effortlessly delivers a tidal wave of gorgeously rich sound, immersing the listener in audio fluidity.’
