BEYERDYNAMIC DT 1990 PRO HEADPHONES
Australian distributor Synchronised Technology (Syntec) has released the BeyerDynamic DT1990 Pro headphones, which use BeyerDynamic’s exclusive ‘Tesla’ technology, where an extremely fine copper wire, just half the diameter of a human hair, is used to construct the voice-coil of the transducer, and neodymium is used as the magnetic material. To ensure complete comfort the DT1990 Pro’s ear-cups are filled with memory foam and there are two different types of ear pads available to tune the headphones to suit your personal listening preference. ‘ One ear-pad variant favours neutral, analytical sound, while the other tends towards a somewhat warmer tuning with more bass,’ said Wayne Farran, National Sales & Marketing Manager for Synchronised Technology, ‘ and no matter which ones you use, you’ll enjoy a perfect, virtually unrivalled fit, enabling prolonged listening sessions without feeling pressure on the ears or heating-up.’
As with all BeyerDynamic headphones, the DT 1990 Pros are built in Heilbronn in Germany. In many ways, the new DT 1990 Pros are similar to BeyerDynamic’s successful DT 1770 Pro model, but whereas the DT 1770 Pro has closed system ear-pieces, making the headphones suitable for use in loud environments, the DT 1990 Pro is an openback design that extracts the utmost detail from audio signals. ‘ Sound engineers have to be able to totally rely on their headphones and the new top-of-the-range DT 1990 Pro headphones from BeyerDynamic deliver absolute precision with reproducible results every time, whether in the studio or at home,’ said Farran. ‘ You’ll be able to hear every knob movement on the mixing desk and even the most subtle variations in sound can be picked up like an acoustic magnifying glass, yet the DT 1990 Pro never loses sight of the music, allowing control and pleasure in equal measure.’
The BeyerDynamic DT 1990 Pro comes with two detachable cables with mini-XLR connectors, allowing professionals to choose between a straight and a coiled cable to suit their needs, as well as with a high-quality transport case. ‘ The construction of all BeyerDynamic headphones is extremely robust,’ said Farran, ‘ and this, together with the guarantee of a good supply of spare parts, makes the DT 1990 Pro a long-term investment. The reliability of BeyerDynamic’s handcrafted professional headphones can be gauged from the fact that legendary models such as the DT 770 Pro, DT 880 Pro and DT 990 Pro, all of which were manufactured back in the ‘80s, are still in continuous use in studios around the world.’ Available now, the BeyerDynamic DT 1990 Pro headphones retail for $1,159 (RRP).
