ASTELL&KERN A&NORMA SR25

-

Astell&Kern has introduced a second model to its A&norma line-up, the SR25, a high-res portable capable of 384/32 PCM and DSD256 playback that a battery life that enables 21 hours of continuous play time, more than double that of the previous generation SR15 model, the longest battery life of any Astell&Kern player and, according to George Poutakidis, double that of any other hi-res player.

‘The SR25 is the second model in the Astell&Kern A&norma standard line,’ said Poutakidis, of BusiSoft AV, which distributes Astell&Kern in Australia. ‘The very first Astell&Kern AK70 delivered high-resolution audio and the Astell&Kern sound, and that continued with the successor to the AK70, the A&norma SR15, and now evolves further with this new SR25, a premium product that fully embraces Astell&Kern’s philosophy and technology.’

The new SR25 has dual Cirrus Logic CS43198 Master Hi-Fi Level DACs and a quad-core CPU that enables native DSD256 playback as well as true 32-bit/384kHz of PCM. With full aptX HD Bluetooth including support for the LDAC codec and Open APP support, the SR25 has a 9.2cm 720x1280 colour touchscreen and can play back continuously for 21 hours.

‘The team at Astell&Kern team developed a completely different PCB design for the SR25 where all audio path lengths are the same, so it can process the high speed signals allowing for super-high resolution sound without any delay,’ said Poutakidis. ‘Furthermore, newly designed audio patterns and power circuits for distortion-free signal transmission and noise rejection are applied to each channel so you can experience Astell&Kern’s flawless sound with zero noise.’

The new Astell&Kern A&norma SR25 is available now, for

$1,199 (RRP). At the time of writing ‘B stock’ models of the SR15 it replaces were available for $599, reduced from the usual retail of $999.
