B&W Australia has released a ‘Carbon Edition’ of B&W’s award-winning PX7 headphones. This model was previously available only in Grey and Silver colours. The release coincides with the addition of voice assist (Siri and Google Assistant) to the PX7’s feature list.

“The new PX7 Carbon Edition stands out from its siblings thanks to its deep black colour finish and the addition of a contrasting diamond-cut logo and bezel edge on the ear-cup,” said Philip Newton, Head of Bowers & Wilkins Australia. “Our premium model, with true over-ear ear-cups for the most immersive soundstage and most complete noise cancellation, fast USB-C charging and 30 hours of uninterrupted ANC play on a single charge, I predict this Carbon Edition model will be our best-selling version yet.”

As with the previous models, the new version uses custom 43mm drive units and has proximity sensors built into both ear-cups that pause the music when you remove the headphones, and restart it when they are placed back over your ears. B&W’s proprietary driver technology is complemented by Qualcomm’s aptX audio codec which combines the 24-bit/48kHz capability of aptX HD with the benefits of aptX Low Latency. “Between them they create the most realistic, high-fidelity soundstage of any headphone on the market, reproducing sound just as it was created in the studio,” said Newton, “plus the PX7s have all the convenience features you could possibly need.”

Available now, the B&W PX7 Carbon (and other) Edition headphones sell for $599 (RRP).
