Spirit in the sky

Qantas is the third-largest purchaser of wine in Australia, with star chef Neil Perry (above) of Rockpool Dining Group at the helm of its food, beverage and service offerings. Sommeliers from the group taste and review more than 1400 wines each year to find the top 250, a selection of which will be served on Qantas flights. In addition, more than 300 cabin crew are trained as ‘Sommeliers in the Sky’, to enhance passengers’ inflight wine experience. Qantas Frequent Flyer members can purchase selected wines served in first and business classes, such as those pictured above, as well as wines from Qantas Club lounges (below), through Qantas epiQure (www.qantasepiqure.com. au). There’s also an excellent selection of mixed cases on offer.
