THE BEAUTY OF BUILT-IN
Sometimes a living space demands an unconventional design approach. This is the case in the Sydney home above, where architect Madeleine Blanchfield opted for a built-in banquette in place of a sofa. “It’s eight metres long and upholstered in a grey linen fabric on an oak base,” she says. The home’s layout underwent a radical opening-up process, allowing this oversized fixture to star in, yet not overpower, the room. A pair of Gervasoni Gray 07 oak armchairs and a matching Gray 46 coffee table from Anibou lend a relaxed warmth to the room. Hanging behind the sofa is a series of framed embroideries by Eko Nugroho.
