Design hero
Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Shigeru Ban (below) is renowned for his elegant, inventive structures. He is also lauded for his humanitarian work, constructing dignified, low-cost and recyclable homes and community buildings for victims of disasters all over the world. A new exhibition, The Inventive Work of Shigeru Ban, showcases the work of this pioneering architect with models of designs such as the Cardboard Cathedral built in Christchurch, New Zealand, after the devastating earthquake in 2013. See it at the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation in Sydney’s Paddington until July 1. sherman-scaf.org.au
