THE PALETTE

-

DAY BED Connecting the dining room to the living area is a sun-splashed corridor Oskar loves. The day bed is designed to draw the eye out to the garden; the base fabric was sourced from Room by Room. ENTRANCE Tucked around a corner and not visible from the street, the front door is a nice surprise for people once they reach it. The way it’s framed enhances the untouched original walls and their bands of dark glazed bricks. PATIO Rena and Tim under their timber and naturally rusted metal pergola, trailed with Chinese wisteria. While they’ve had the table for years, the plastic outdoor chairs were salvaged from a country tip. LAUNDRY The layering of colour draws you into this practical space, which houses storage, the laundry and a powder room, with the main bathroom beyond. GARDEN On the western side of the property is a meandering path of crazy pavers that leads to the back patio and north-facing garden. Growing from holes in the path is Thymus serpyllum ‘Annie Hall’. A copse of silver birch trees stands behind the bolstered granite seats. There are also a number of Stachys byzantina (lamb’s ears) dotted around. The landscaping is by John French Landscape Design.
