Anaca Studio

-

Anne-Claire Petre (above) studied industrial design in France and furniture design in Scotland before moving to Adelaide to work with the JamFactory Furniture Associates Program. A few years later, Anne-Claire relocated to Melbourne, where she worked for a number of high-end furniture companies, architecture firms and design studios. “These different roles gave me valuable insights into the different facets and stages of the furniture and design industries,” she says.

In 2012, Anne-Claire decided it was high time to begin doing things her way.

She set up a studio at home, with the aim of establishing her own eco-friendly furniture firm, Anaca Studio.

“When I started Anaca Studio, it was fundamental that the products had to be sustainable,” says Anne-Claire. “I was always committed to using materials and finishes that

have a low environmental impact. But to me, ‘eco-friendly’ is also about ensuring products are well made and durable and therefore won’t end up in landfill after a couple of years.”

Anaca Studio’s signature style is sleek and modern, with a strong sense of understated luxury. “My creative process starts with a need for a particular item,” says Anne-Claire. “Once I have a concept in mind, I put pen to paper to shape the idea. Aesthetics are important, but practicality is always the priority. Sometimes I make models, then move on to 3D drawings. Usually, I have an idea of the type of material I want to use from the start, as the design often revolves around that. Once the idea is well modelled, it’s off to the manufacturer.” anacastudio.com.au
