What does an estimator do? I’m the money man! It’s my job to estimate the cost of building the house, to order materials, deal with contractors and send out purchase orders. I have to keep on top of all the orders so that everything’s ready to go at the right time. I’ll be on site every day. How different is this build to others? It’s very different; there are materials in this house that I haven’t dealt with or ordered before, so it’ll be a great experience. How did you come into your line of work? I was going to go into computing, but my uncle suggested that I give this a try instead. I thought, “Everyone does computing, so I’ll give this a shot.”
