Interior designer & stylist

Launceston-based Lydia shares a restored Federation home with her husband Shane and their three-year-old son Harry George. It’s the ideal showcase for her signature ‘traditional with a twist’ style.

MY FAVOURITE THINGS

Armchairs These fabulous ‘Charlotte’ chairs from The Rug Collection reference the green in the original leadlights.

Cushion I needed a round cushion to tie in with the shape of the tables. ‘Spot’ from Bambury fit the bill perfectly. Coffee table and side table

Tiering coffee tables with side tables is a great way to visually expand the feel of a room. These tables have generous surfaces but slim frames so that they don’t dominate the space. The black works as an anchor for all the other elements, too. Tree in pot I have black thumbs, so I turn to artificial plants to keep my greenery dreams alive. This faux ficus from Rogue is amazingly realistic. The ‘Timon’ planter is from Albi. Rug The ‘Bobble’ rug, from Globe West, is the main textural piece in the room. It contrasts beautifully with the dark oak flooring.

MY FAVOURITE HAUNTS

Where’s good for coffee and

a snack? Cafe Mondello on Charles Street. The smashed avocado gets me every time.

I love to shop at Westerly. Fabulous interiors pieces from local artists and makers. > lydiamaskiell.com
