Scented treats for skin.

When it comes fragrance, less is always more, especially on a warm day. It’s not just a preference: odour molecules move through the air more quickly in heat, intensifying their impact. Many people switch to lighter fragrances during the warmer months, but you could also layer body washes, lotions and sprays for a more subtle effect.

1 Babor Spa Balancing Salt & Sugar Oil Scrub ($84) A pioneer in professional skincare treatments, German brand Babor is also a dab hand at creating body products with benefits. Unlike many scrubs, this body smoother can be applied directly onto dry skin because the hydrating oil in the formula helps to prevent irritation. The aromatic blend of bergamot, juniper berry, cypress and spice makes your bathroom smell like a luxury spa.

2 Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Shampoo/Conditioner ($25 each) US haircare brand Shea Moisture has been making organic and ethically sourced beauty products for more than 100 years. Recommended for dry, normal and thin hair, this fresh and fruity shampoo and conditioner duo boosts hydration and enhances manageability and shine.

3 A’kin Body Wash ($25) This Australian-made body wash is free of sulphates, which can strip natural oils and irritate sensitive skin. There’s no need to forego a luxurious lather or tantalising fragrance either.

Choose from three versions: Sandalwood & Ylang Ylang, Lavender and Orange Blossom & Juniper. 4 Chanel No5 L’Eau All-Over Spray ($105/150ml) A lighter, more playful version of Chanel’s popular No5 L’Eau, this body spray is designed to be applied all over after a shower so it interacts with your skin, not your clothes. Low alcohol concentration means you can also spray it in your hair. The travel-friendly bottle makes it easy to re-spritz freely.

5 Molton Brown Orange & Bergamot Radiant Bathing Oil ($88) This bath oil is part of the company’s new collection of pampering luxuries, including Radiant Body Oil ($85) and Radiant Body Polisher ($60). Use this alone or prep first with the polisher, then add more hydration with the body oil for a longer-lasting fragrance effect.

6 Crabtree & Evelyn Gardeners Body Lotion ($32) The healthy, outdoorsy appeal of the popular Gardeners hand-care collection has been extended to this unisex body lotion, adding a therapeutic touch to a shower after a day’s weeding, planting or pruning. Both products contain uplifting cucumber, sage and rosemary extracts. The fast-absorbing lotion revitalises the skin with avocado, shea, grapeseed and meadowfoam butters and oils.
