LIF E & ST YLE
Suzi shares some firsts and favourite things.
FIRST ADULT HOME? A tiny studio in Bondi (9). My dad helped renovate the block for the then-owner, so I managed to nab an apartment as soon as they went on the market. I felt like the coolest 21 year old in the world.
BUCKET-LIST DESTINATION? New York City in spring or autumn (2). BEST MEAL EVER? Homemade pasta dressed with herbs and fresh olive oil (11) at a small family-run Italian restaurant perched on a cliff on the Amalfi Coast. Divine. DREAM CAR? I seldom commute – work, home, gym and many friends are within a 5-kilometre radius! – but I adore my Mini (7). It’s perfect for navigating city streets. FAVOURITE FLOWERS? There are so many, I don’t think I could name just one! I tend to buy long-lasting types, such as lilies (12) or Australian natives.
FAVOURITE ARTISTS? Prince (6) is my all-time favourite musician. Love him to the moon and back. I’m also a fan of Victorian artist Catherine Abel (1).
DESIGN INSPIRATION? I am obsessed with Mid-Century Modern – I’d rather restore an original piece than buy something new. Vintage glassware (5), especially from the 1950s and ’60s. In terms of architecture, Frank Gehry (3) can’t be beaten.
PROFESSIONALLY, WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT?
For 25 years, I’ve supported female entrepreneurs through my HerBusiness.com community. It’s a real privilege to help other women make connections that help them grow their business. I’m so lucky to do something that I love every day. FAVOURITE FASHION LABELS? Diane Von Furstenberg, Karen Millen (4), Zadig & Voltaire, Saba and Leona Edmiston. Prada for bags and shoes. FAVOURITE SCENT? Gardenias (8).
NEXT MAJOR PURCHASE FOR THE HOME? I have a pair of black leather Le Corbusier chairs that desperately need to be reupholstered. I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT... My Giotto coffee machine (10). It looks great and makes the most amazing coffee.
“I like to go running on weekends – it’s a must for my emotional wellbeing. It’s moving meditation.”
