GIRO DND GLOVES

- WORDS: MIKE BLEWITT IMAGES: LACHLAN RYAN

Minimal bulk and maximum strength – that’s what I’m after in a set of mountain bike gloves. Plenty of gloves offer the former, but combining it with the latter isn’t always possible. The Giro DND (‘Down and Dirty’) gloves marry minimalist design with great functionality. Pared back to the essentials, the suede palm grips well, and the 4-way stretch back means your movement is unrestricted. The knuckles have articulated panels which are super comfortable, but I am wary about the longevity of the tiny stitches in the long run. So far so good, though. Small extras like a wipe area, touchscreen compatible finger tips, and a tiny bit of grip on the main fingers means these gloves get put on and stay on, regardless of what you need to do on the bike. With a little bit of EVA padding, and a tab to get them on, these have proven to be a glove to pull on and forget about until the end of the ride. Which I have already done countless times and expect to for many more rides – these are a new favourite.
