JUNIOR DH

Canadian Finn Iles will be the favourite to add another junior World Championship title to his 2017 World Cup series win, which was sealed with three successive first places. His main challenge could well be Britain’s Matt Walker, who triumphed in Fort William in June and proved his ability on the Cairns course when winning the 2016 World Cup event ahead a slew of locals. Sylvain Cougoureux from France is also likely to fight hard after regularly

featuring on the podium all this season.

In the junior women’s event, the form guide suggests it could be a close-fought battle between Latvian Paula Zibasa and France’s Melanie Chappaz as they have largely shared the victories between themselves in the World Cup races this season. Others to keep an eye on include New Zealander Shania Rawson-Pickard, Italy’s Alessia Missiagia and Flora Lesoin from France.
