Movie car mania builds
For
many of us car nuts, showbiz and cars go hand-in-hand. We often consider the automotive cast members to be the biggest celebrities on the entertainment stage. Memorable names like Interceptor, General Lee, Eleanor, Bullitt, Herbie and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang immediately evoke images of iconic machines rather than people. In the vein of headline act rather than supportive sidekick, Meguiar’s MotorEx Sydney is hosting Movie Car Mania – Australia’s biggest, ever gathering of everyone’s favourite TV and movie cars.
The captivating, 30-strong display will host several genuine examples used during actual filming. They include; Herbie the Love Bug ( Herbie goes to Monte Carlo), Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am, Superman Crown Victoria, XY ute ( A Country Practice),Practice Blues Brothers Dodge, El Camino ute ( My Name is Earl), Mercury Custom from Babe and the General Lee from the 2005 Dukes of Hazzard.
Joining these real stars will be a number of faithful replicas such as the 1960s Batmobile, Drag-U-La, Munster Koach, Eleanor (2000-version), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, American Graffiti ’32, Mystery Machine (Scooby Doo), Monkeemobile, Back to the Future DeLorean, Jurassic Park Tour Vehicle, Bullitt Mustang and an array of Mad Max machines – including an Interceptor, MFP Pursuit and the bubble trike from the original Mad Max movie.
Movie Car Mania at MotorEx, Sydney Olympic Park (July 25-26), will have something for all ages, along with a once-in-a-lifetime appearance by Mr Movie Car himself, the legendary George Barris. This is just a small portion of what’s on offer at this massive 50,000sqm event, there’s much, much more. Head to the website to check out all the attractions.
