What is it? “1990 VN SS Group A.” When did you buy it? “April 2017.” Why did you buy it? “I had dreamt of owning one since I was nine years old. Over the years the love hadn’t dwindled and I could see the prices starting to climb. I had a VN SV5000 which was a show car and that I loved dearly, but I knew I couldn’t have both and so I moved the SV5000 on to buy this particular car which had been lovingly cared for. To finally own the last of the homologation specials is incredible. I picked it up on my birthday from Bathurst and drove straight to the racetrack for photos. Not sure if any more stars could have aligned!” What do you know about its life? “I have the full history from its purchase new, including the original invoice for the sale, through to me buying it. I am the fourth owner and it has clearly been loved by all previous owners along the way.” How does it go? “It’s so smooth and responsive. I honestly couldn’t believe how good it is. It was a fast car for its time and can see why all the reviews at the time said it was a brilliant grand touring-style car.” Anything you’d like to add? “They tell you never to drive or own your dream car as it’s always a disappointment, but I am still in love with these cars 27 years after they were built and I had never driven one till the day I picked this car up!”
