With our landmark 100th issue just six months away, we are getting all nostalgic here at AMC HQ and digging up behindthe-scenes pics from our earliest days. Here’s issue #11’s cover image ‘unplugged’. The lime green of the Hinton family’s A9X (sister car to the recently auctioned Brevillemobile) just ‘punches’ off the cover with the help of photographer Eric Williamson’s clever studio lighting. Note the illumination from underneath – and the white board positioned from the front – ensuring dark blue sections are adequately lit, so the front spoiler doesn’t get lost in a sea of black. Then there’s the black sheet behind the drivers’ side windows, helping the mag’s graphic designer weave his magic when etching Williamson’s raw image. This stunner has inspired us to put another A9X (or two) on next issue’s cover.
