What is it? “It’s an FPV GT 40th Anniversary, build number 180.” When did you buy it? “I have owned it since 2015. I purchased it from a guy named Trevor. It had barely done 10,000km when I got it and now has done just over 23,000km.” Why did you buy it? “I have wanted a 40th anniversary GT ever since the model was first released. After seeing one on display at the Brisbane Kedron All-Ford day back in 2007, I wanted one even more! Unfortunately at the time I was too young and didn’t have enough money, but when this one came up three years ago, I just had to have it – even though it meant selling my ’06 GTP.” What do you know about its life? “Trevor bought it new off the showroom floor at Tarrants Ford in Maryborough in Queensland on July 20, 2007. The GT was a July ’07 build. Trevor ended up fitting a full X-Force exhaust system and had a flash tune done by Bob Ramano in Brisbane. I have the full service history and all the FPV documentation. Since I’ve owned it, I have had a full paint correction and ceramic coated by Dean and John at the Detailing Centre in Caloundra.” How does it go? “I drive my GT on weekends or on days off, whether it’s a short drive, a few-hours drive with the car clubs or just a leisure drive. I bought my GT for cruising, not for speed, but with its Boss 290 5.4-litre V8, at least I know I have power when I need it – and I have used it a few times! I have named my car Morticia after Morticia Addams in the TV show The Addams Family as I thought the GT has a few of her characteristics! I love my beast.” Anything you’d like to add? “The FPV GT 40th Anniversary is a pretty special model. Only 200 were made – and 25 of those went to New Zealand, so they are fairly rare. The 40th Anniversary model was made to commemorate 40 years of the XR GT Falcon, which was where it all started for Australian muscle cars. This limited edition FPV was the first to wear the R spec handling suspension package, and all 40th Anniversary are all Silhouette Black with unique gold stripes and a few little interior and exterior finishes. My build number 180 FPV GT 40th Anniversary was optioned as an auto with the upgraded brake package. I think it should have been part of AMC #100’s top six most notable modern muscle cars.”
