Car: 1970 Ford Falcon XW GT Hometown: Sydney, NSW

-

What is it? “It is a March-built 1970 Falcon XW GT with manual transmission. It’s Diamond White in colour and has black interior trim, and with laminated tint-band windscreen.” When did you buy it? “I bought the car in January 2000.” Why did you buy it? “I’d been looking for an XW Falcon GT for a while and had seen a few that were advertised but unfortunately I had no luck with any of them. Then a good mate of mine told me about an XW GT he knew of. This car initially wasn’t for sale but eventually I got to look at it and we were able to do a deal.” What do you know about its life? “It was sold new to a company, Breizon Australia Pty Ltd, in Burwood, Victoria on the 11th of September, 1970. It stayed in Victoria until the mid 1990s before it came to Sydney. There it had a couple of owners prior to me purchasing it.” How does it go? “The XW GT is my favourite; the stripe/badges front end just screams TOUGH. I’ve put aside the original 12-slotters and tted ve-slotters the day I got it. The only modi cations on the car are extractors and a Holley; apart from that it remains as it left the Ford showroom.” Anything you’d like to add? “I have owned the car for almost 19 years and my wife and kids love it. We get it out and use it on club runs regularly – this car is really part of the family.”
