Australian Muscle Car

My Muscle

-

What is it?

“It’s a FPV F6. This car houses the iconic Barra four-litre straight-six turbo motor of the FG Falcon series.”

When did you buy it?

“I bought it in 2015 from a Sydney-based dealership. It was a very lucky find, especially now that Ford Australia no longer produces cars.”

Why did you buy it?

“I have always loved Fords. When I was in my early twenties I remember one afternoon a good friend of mine stopped by and picked me up in his Viper Purple XR6 FG Turbo Ute. The raw power and grunt of the car had me absolutely hooked, but what amazed me the most is how it could also be used as an everyday vehicle. He ended up selling it and I missed my chance to buy it. I spent most days after that dreaming of what it would be like to own a turbo Barra. Three years ago I made my dream a reality.”

What do you know about its life?

“It was built in July 2008 at Broadmeadows, of course. It has only had one previous male owner who was also from Sydney. The car was completely untouched from the factory; however, did come with some cosmetic dings and scratches. With the combined help and amazing work of The Vella Brothers (based at Arndell Park in Sydney) and Justin from Definition Car Detailing, the car was restored to its former glory.”

How does it go?

“When you put your foot down, it screams. I love it! However, I wanted the best of both worlds so that it can be driven as both a cruisey daily driver and a performance vehicle. With the help of the boost control device I had fitted to the car, it allows me to have more control of the power output via a ‘one-to-three’ setting, which is literally at my fingertips. The 455 rear wheel kW sided with near 1000Nm of torque has gained her the nickname ‘SYCOSIX.’”

Anything you would like to add?

“I am extremely proud to be part of the FPV Tickford Club of NSW, which was featured in the 100th edition of AMC. Being able to participate in car shows with the club and therefore contribute towards fundraisers for things such as cancer is fantastic. This along with other events we do such as our car display at the Sydney V8 Supercars is an embodiment of the love we have for the homegrown Ford. I hope to be able to pass my car down to future generations in the family.”
