Eizo Announces New Coloredge Monitors… And A Cloud-based CM Solution
Two new 24-inch models have been added to Eizo’s ColorEdge series of graphics monitors. The ColorEdge CG247 and ColorEdge CX241 both feature a new wide-gamut IPS panel that reproduces 99 percent of the Adobe RGB colour space. The CG247 has a built-in calibration sensor (colorimeter) for self-calibration while the CX241 has an internal correction sensor in order to maintain the calibration results after the monitor has been calibrated with an external device.
For the colour management of ColorEdge monitors on a network, Eizo has launched the ColorNavigator Network and ColorNavigator NX. ColorNavigator Network is a secure, cloud-based Web hosting solution for administrators to perform quality control tasks on client ColorEdge monitors with ColorNavigator NX installed. Used together, ColorNavigator Network and ColorNavigator NX allow an administrator to take advantage of the self-calibration capabilities of the ColorEdge monitors by performing calibration and other quality control tasks on a network of ColorEdge monitors in the same office – or even in other cities and countries – from a single location. The administrator can automate quality control tasks by scheduling them at regular intervals. This has the potential to save a post-production studio or printing company hundreds or even thousands of hours annually in maintenance downtime.
In addition to adjusting a monitor’s colour, administrators can input asset management information for each monitor, import/export monitor settings to set up multiple monitors more efficiently, and enable or disable colour modes to ensure the correct colour modes are used on a project. Additionally, adjustment information is saved to the monitor itself so it will display colour exactly the same way as if it is connected to more than one workstation (i.e. without re-calibration).
For organisations that do not need centralised quality control or for individual users that require a wider variety of calibration functionality, Eizo bundles its proprietary ColorNavigator 6 software with both new monitors. ColorNavigator is used for setting the target values for brightness, gamma and white point, and generating an ICC profile.
ColorNavigator has a scheduling function that activates the self-calibration of the CG247 and the self-correction functions of the CX241. The software offers several advanced functions such as emulating the colour characteristics of smartphones, tablets and other devices, and profile validation for verifying calibration results.
For video editing and post-production, the ColorEdge CG247 has a 3D LUT (look-up table) that adjusts colour individually on an RGB cubic table. With ColorNavigator NX and ColorNavigator 6 software’s emulation function, the 3D LUT applies a film look to the image so creators can preview how the image will be seen by their audiences.
The new ColorEdge CG247 and CX241 are available now, and ColorNavigator NX is available as a free download on www.eizo.com
