Australian Company Acquires Ilford Brand Rights For Inkjet Media
In partnership with Chugai Photo Chemical Company Ltd of Tokyo, C.R. Kennedy & Company Pty Ltd has been successful in its bid for the Ilford trade marks and associated assets. This relates specifically to inkjet printing media such as the Ilford Galerie Prestige and Ilford Omnijet ranges. The acquisition will see these products continue with existing ICC profiles on a world-wide basis.
A new company called Ilford Imaging Europe GmbH has been established as a joint venture and will be responsible for all product development, production, logistics, sales and marketing activities. Clement Kennedy and Arnoud Mekenkamp have been appointed as joint managing directors of Ilford Imaging Europe. Clem Kennedy is a director of C.R. Kennedy & Company while Arnoud Mekenkamp is the managing director of Tecco GmbH, a Germanbased producer of digital printing materials.
In a press release issued jointly by C.R. Kennedy and Chugai Photo Chemical Company, they state, “Together, both partners have a combined history of 146 years in the photo industry. They are committed to implementing long term strategies for growth, with respect for the history and traditions of the Ilford brand. Ilford has, for 135 years represented outstanding quality; this will continue.”
Established in 1934, C.R. Kennedy & Company has had a long involvement with the photographic industries in Australia and New Zealand. In Australia it is the distributor for a large number of major imaging brands including Hasselblad, Bowens, Ricoh and Pentax, Sigma, Metz, Zeiss, Hoya and Vanguard.
