Fujifilm’s Most Compact GF Lens Is Here
First shown at the launch of the GFX 50R at Photokina 2018, the most compact prime lens for Fujifilm’s mirrorless medium format digital camera system has finally arrived. The ‘pancake’-style Fujinon GF 50mm f3.5 R LM WR weighs in at a mere 335 grams and perfectly complements the compact GFX 50R camera body. This combination weighs in at 1.11 kilograms, which is pretty light for a medium format kit.
The optical construction utilises nine elements in six groups, including one aspherical type to help counter both spherical aberrations and distortion. The external construction is fully weather-sealed to match the capabilities of the GFX camera bodies, providing protection against the intrusion of dust and moisture, and insulation to enable shooting in sub-zero temperatures down to -10 degrees Celsius.
The new Fujinon GF 50mm f3.5 R LM WR is the tenth G mount lens from Fujifilm and the focal length is equivalent to 40mm in the 35mm format. It measures just 48 millimetres in length. The minimum focusing distance is 55 centimetres, and the minimum aperture is f32. There’s a nine-blade diaphragm to give smoother, more-rounded out-of-focus effects, and it provides click-stopped adjustments on one-third stop increments. The screwthread filter fitting diameter is 62 millimetres.
Available in Australia from the late September, the Fujinon GF 50mm f3.5 R LM WR is priced at $1649.
