Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my! Well, not lions, but rhinos and elephants, eagles and leopards, and most terrifying of all, the vicious, murderous honey badger. The world of FarCry4 is a terrifying menagerie brimming with teeth and claws. Fortunately, you have guns. Lots of them. And plenty of targets to fill your crosshair.

In FarCry4 you’ll explore Kyrat, a fictional Nepalese region filled with rocky outcrops, snow-capped mountains, and lush forests, making for one of the most stunning video game worlds we’ve ever seen. Kyrat feels alive, boasting a complex ecosystem that plays out in front of you – you won’t forget seeing an eagle swoop down in front of you, pick up a pig and fly off with it. Compared with its world, the story of FarCry4 is underwhelming, but Kyrat is such a compelling place you hardly need an incentive to explore it.

With a wingsuit, gyrocopters, and all manner of wheeled vehicles at your disposal, the sense of freedom is palpable. As you tackle story missions, side missions and random events in any order you fancy, traversing Kyrat leaves you feeling like a Nepalese Bruce Springsteen, born to run, the wind blowing through you hair.

You may baulk at the need to hunt and skin four rhinos in order to make one lone wallet, but if you can save your animal conservation instincts for the real world, FarCry4 is a blast.
