Has there been a more heavily hyped game in recent years than Destiny? Bungie, creators of the Halo franchise, promised Destiny would be a game, nay, an event unlike anything we’d ever seen before. While it’s certainly an ambitious title, with stunning alien vistas that cry out to be explored, that exploration can feel repetitive.

Destiny just can’t quite live up to the lofty expectations that were set for it – although if your expectations are to spray gunfire at wave after wave of the same aggressive alien hoard, you may come away very satisfied. That’s not so much an indictment of the developers, but rather suggests the hype merchants promoting the game were a little too effective at their job.

What Bungie has ultimately delivered is a gorgeous MMO shooter that doesn’t feel revolutionary in the way we were told it would. The shooting is fun though, which is fortunate because you’ll be doing a heck of a lot of it.
