DESIGN

The Tile Slim is about two centimetres square and the thickness of three credit cards, with a silver button in the middle. It links to an iOS or Android phone using Bluetooth LE. It’s light and attractive, but perhaps a touch bulky once in your wallet.

FEATURES

The device itself is basic, but its app has clever features. If Tile Slim is in range, you can make it bleep; if it’s out of range, the app will show where it last connected on a map. If it’s lost or stolen, use the Tile community to help find it via the app.

PERFORMANCE

The Tile Slim’s performance is constrained by Bluetooth LE. Testing it indoors we couldn’t get it to work at a range of more than about 10 metres. A wallet muffles the chime too, so if you’re further than 10m away it’s hard to hear.

USABILITY

It’s easy to set up and use several Tiles at once. You can share a Tile with other devices, combining their Bluetooth range to help locate your Tile faster. If you lose your phone, doublepress Tile Slim’s button to make your phone ring. RATES Nicely designed and well presented, the Tile Slim does what it says on the tin, very smoothly. SLATES Slightly too thick, and too quiet, but the main trouble is its short range. Your wallet better not go far!
