Mobile World Congress and Samsung’s separate launch of the Galaxy S8 mean that almost all of the big phone makers have a new showpiece out. HDR screens are the hot new thing on lots of handsets this year, but there’s loads more going on, from 4K displays to amazing new cameras, to beautiful button-less designs. That’s not all we have for you this issue. Phones may be the portal to looking outward, but to improve the life you’re living right now you should check out our elite list of essential gadgets. They’re all designed to help you relax, travel smarter, play better and look sharper, too. You can read all about it on page 58.

Feeling a bit more active? Luckily for you, there’s a round-up of superb winter cycling gear on page 18, and a comprehensive showcase of fitness trackers on page 28. We’ve put them to the test so you can find the best, then simply lie back and fill your eyeballs with the greatest that tech has to offer. Now, where’s that feature on how to relax again?...
